The ,The Astor' in Perth is undoubtedly one of these fancy buildings and inspired the local SneakerStore ,Highs and Lows' and ASICS Tiger to the GEL-Lyte III 'Silver Screen', as a tribute to the cinema culture and in particular to Art Deco movie houses.
November 5, 1919, the doors of ,The Astor' opened, the architect and owner Simon Bremner Alexander denote his work as coolest buildings in the country. He was referring not only to the aesthetic but also the functional aspect of the design in the form of an extraordinary ventilation and cooling system.
To date ,Astor' held as a premier source for independent cinema, musicals, concerts and theater performances, symbolizing the cultural and artistic heart of Perth.
The design of the GEL-Lyte III 'SILVER SCREEN' reflects the soft Mint and the contrasting Red of the building and engages details in the lobby ver-applied materials and decor.
The print on the insole refers to the usual in old movies countdown to the film's release.
